Ford: v.t. to cross by wading (Webster)

Pier: n. a disappointed bridge (Joyce)

Vancouver musician Ford Pier has released six solo albums, written and arranged for symphony orchestra and chamber ensembles, been published in Geist magazine, composed electronic soundscapes for fashion shows, toured internationally supporting NoMeansNo and The Weakerthans, and appeared live and on record as a member or guest of Neko Case, D.O.A., Veda Hille, Daniel Johnston, and many others. He leads a “rock string quartet” called Strength Of Materials, whose debut Inclusive Fitness was released in 2016, and last year, his art-punk-pop-spazzrock band The Vengeance Trio released their new album, Expensive Tissue, produced by Dave Carswell of Destroyer and The Smugglers. In solo performances, Ford draws on material from all of the above and more, accompanying himself on electric guitar and electronics, with an emphasis on those songs which lend themselves best to the singer-songwriter approach, focusing on his lyrics, alternately funny and harrowing, exploring moral ambiguity and unmapped inner states.
